Analgesic medications

Reduce your pain and improve your quality of life. SCHEDULE A CONSULTATION

Medical management of chronic pain often involves a combination of treatments and therapeutic options, known as the multimodal approach. In addition to medicine, the patient will be referred to therapists of various specialties, including physiotherapists, massage therapists, chiropractors, occupational therapists and psychotherapists.

In addition to invasive procedures, analgesic drugs may be added to your treatment. These drugs, belonging to several classes, are introduced progressively and adjusted according to the desired effect (i.e. 30% reduction in initial pain). These drugs are limited according to the side effects experienced by the patient.

Analgesic medications

Analgesics are drugs prescribed by a doctor to relieve pain. They have different levels of efficacy, depending on the condition being treated. The initial dose prescribed must be adjusted according to the desired effect and the side effects experienced. Often, several classes of medication are required to achieve a stable condition.

Controlled drugs

The controlled drug classes (i.e. narcotics) require regular monthly follow-up with urine testing in the clinic and the signing of a therapeutic contract.

Methadone and suboxone (buprenorphine)

Metadol (methadone tablet) and suboxone for pain are also prescribed and follow the rules for controlled drugs.

Pharmacological cannabinoids and medical cannabis

Pharmacological cannabinoids and medical cannabis are also a valid option for certain conditions, with follow-up depending on the product used.
